How do I get long, healthy african american hair that's relaxed?

Your hair is going to grow at it's normal speed, nothing will actually make your hair grow faster, but you can make conditions that promote healthy hair.

1. Wash every one to two weeks depending on your hair state

2. Wait at least 6 weeks before getting a relaxer, if you can go longer, go longer [use relaxer kits, they tend to be softer on hair and come with the right shampoos and conditions you need for that time. Use Organic Root Stimulator, and Soft and Beautiful Botanicals. Make sure that a professional does this job though]

3. Use organic root stimulator products. [Carrot and Olive Oil work well, but find one suited to your needs]

4. Trim regularly [ESP. if your ends start to fray out. Trimming makes hair look thicker]

5. Take vitamins and minerals that promote healthy hair

6. Avoid flat ironing frequently, and air dry if possible [Use rollers instead]

7. Cover hair at night time with a bonnet

8. Use a deep conditioner every 4 weeks, and a leave in conditioner and setting lotion every week

9. If you get color, get semi-permanent. Don't take color chances with your hair

10. Drink lots of water

11. If you wear ponytails, take it out when you get home and let your hair breathe. Constant tightness is hard on the hair. [always use fabric covered hair bows]

12. Use a headband to tame and cover naps between perm time. [Avoid using gels, they create product build up. If necessary, use Let's Jam!]

good luck!
