Mud mask for African American hair?

I would like to know if anyone used mud mask for relaxed hair?? What does it do?? do it make the hair grow?? I had severe breakage 6 months ago and i used to have shoulder lenght hair.I cut 4 inches and grew 3 inches since then and that not enough(i don t want to put extensions)
