How can I keep my very thick, African-American hair looking fresh, without compromising my workout r

I am an African-American woman with EXTREMELY thick relaxed and highlighted hair. My usual beauty regimen is wash and heat style my hair once a week, condition it twice a week; (the 2nd time I condition it, I let it air dry). The result is for about half of the week my hair will be thrown up in a ponytail because I don閳ユ獩 want to heat style it twice a week. Recently though, I moved to LA to pursue a career in acting and dancing, so I want to have nice looking hair for an entire week. I am very active though, and therefore sweat pretty much daily. What do some of yall do?

I'm not African-American, though I have annoying curls.

If you can afford it, try to get the "Thermal Hair Reconditioning" treatment done. It's a process that was invented by the Japenese that takes out curls and you'll have straight hair even after washing. A lady in LA charges around $400 to 500 for a treatment. It all depends on the hair, though. I really wanna get it done cuz in the long run, it'll be healthier on the hair..

OK...there are no if ands or buts about it if you are exercising the moisture from your scalp will ruin your relaxer and curl your hair up...so I think you should look into a natural style while you are exercising so vigorously...and you need to do deep conditioning too...you can try this though: after washing and heat styling hair when working out put it in a ponytail and wrap your ponytail into a loose bun...and put a scarf around your edges and after working out don't take the scarf off or release the bun and ponytail right away...wait until about 1 hour after working out to let hair dry completely and then remove the scarf and bun and see if your hair style was preserved...

I have down right nappy hair and workout almost daily. I put it up in a bun while i'm are at the gym and then wrap it tight in a scarf while i shower. As soon as i get out the shower i put some oil on it, style it how i want it then tie it cover it back up while i go through the rest of my beauty routine by the time i get done my hair is set with out being frizzy or using heat

Wash your hair every 2/3 days (that's like.. 2/3 times a week).

Don't forget to condition it. And most importantly, AIR DRY!

Whenever you feel sweaty and your hair starts to be oily, wash your hair. After you wash your hair, put silk proteins on your hair. I'm not sure if they have it there. I guess you could also straighten it twice a week, but don't straighten it more than twice a week because it'll ruin your hair and make it dry.

Or... you can also go with the permanent straightening, but I wouldn't recommend this if you can't take care of your hair much, because if permanent straightened hair isn't taken care of, the straightening process is just a waste of time.

Your over washing your hair. African Americans does not need to wash their hair that often. Usually every 10-12 days. Your stripping your hair of it's natural oils, plus your using a heated hair appliance.

Just apply Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizing Lotion to your hair after you have wash %26amp; conditioned it and use hair rollers. I do not believe in ponytails on relaxed hair. Why? Your hair should be down and flowing.
